Sliding Cargo Deck - Anyone Drilled?

Has anyone drilled through the SCD yet? I'm going to put in a 35" Saris 3 track and it seems to be a striaght forward process. My assumption is that the deck is just solid fiberglass?

It's styrofoam in the center. I used potted nuts like these and epoxied them in.You need real short screws. There's alot of ways to do it.That's just the way I did. "NAS 1833 Type" Thru Threaded Insert on Marketing Masters, Inc.

I cut my Saris track with a hacksaw a little on each side so it's centered and as wide as the SCD.

Oh yea, put your bikes on the rack first to see where to position it before you drill.

Thanks. I've done everything but actually drill. The 35" fits perfect and is pretty flat and unoticeable. Do you think if I just drilled and used a thru bolt and wing nut on the bottom it would be fine? Just trying to figure out the structural integrity once drilled.

Yep , you'll be fine. I would just use a washer about as big as a nickel or bigger on the bottom with the wing nut so it doesn't pull thru.

I did mine like I did because I take it out when I'm not using it and made it real easy as just 3 screws hold it down from the top.
