slight knocking when in drive, more help

its really not that noticable and it may be nothing but it is noticable to me. when i put my truck in drive it sounds like the motor starts tapping a little, if i throw it back in park it smooths out. anytime i come to a stop in drive i hear it again. any pointers what it may be? should i have a valve adjustment done?

Huh, mine does that too. Although, the noise is coming from the rear of the vehicle. It's got to be an exhaust mount or something on mine. Not sure. It only does it when it's in drive and I'm stopped. Put it in park and it stops.

I have the same problem where I hear a noise when it is in drive and sitting at idle. I have searched all over and can not find what it might be.

Well I experimented tonight, and this is what happens, im thinking it may be a transmission related issue.

In park and neutral the engine sounds smooth as silk, if i go in reverse or any forward gear i start hearing a faint knocking sound, maybe like a gear is out of whack or soemthing i know very little about transmissions, does that help at all can anyone help pinpoint this?

That is my exact problem. My theory is my flex plate might be cracked. I might pull the inspection cover this week. By the way mine has been like that for over 40k miles.

oh wow. i figure its just an annoyance, id rather have it be a trans issue than a motor issue i guess. let me know what you find if you dont mind

heres another observation with this, it doesnt do it when the motor is really cold
