Slight shaking between 65-80mph

I'm new to the board too, picked up an 06 T4R and loving it. Only weird thing is between 65-80 mph I get some slight shaking in the wheel and throughout the truck. Just had the tires balanced and still does it. And ideas? Thanks.

How did you have the tires balance? do you know if the alignment might be out of spec? Does the steering feel loose in any way?

Usually this turns out to be tie rods (inner and outer).

Sometimes worn balljoints can also contribute to this, but the tie rods usually tend to go first due to their smaller size.

I'm not sure on how the wheels were balanced... Just went to the local shop. The alignment seems to be fine it doesn't pull at all. And the steering is tight as can be.

I say bring it back to the place that balanced and tell them. Have them re-balanced. The kid who last did it probably did a crap job while he was texting his girlfriend.

Had the same thing and after a tire balance it was gone.

My 06' V6 SR5 also shakes at exactly 70mph. Not sure the cause.

I will keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has another suggestion beyond what I've already tried.

Your truck should be rock solid and steady at any speed. That's one thing that's always amazed me about these trucks.

Get it re-balanced.

Got them rebalanced. Alot better for sure, still feel a slight vibration at those speeds of and on, but not sure if maybe I'm still getting used to the way the truck drives.

If there is a sticking caliper (these trucks are very well knows for them) and the rotors are warped that would cause it too from the constant contact. I'd give that a look too.

It's probably not suspension/tie rod components if it's that low of mileage, but you never know. A really big hit on a pothole can start pounding the joints out, then it's all downhill in a hurry especially with big heavy tires.

Sounds like it might be tire balance, but a tech has to be a complete doofus to mess that up these days (definitely happens sadly enough).

I've had mine since brand new with the original Grand Treks. Got that same shaking at those speeds (in kms, not miles). Went to the most super-duper dealer in the area and had them all balanced. No difference, really. That was two years ago. Funny thing is is that I must have tuned it out because seldom notice it anymore.

Just called the shop to set up an appointment for this exact situation on our SR5 with 88k miles. Maybe the tires are getting older (45k miles) producing the problem? First thought was tie rods, but there does not seem to be any play in the wheel when off the ground.

Will report back after tomorrow morning. Would rather not shake all the way to MT/WY border and back to MN...
