Hello All,
I have a 99 4Runner Limited. It has 120K+ miles on it and so far it has been excellent.
Last Saturday while driving on I-270 near DC area, I was trying to pass and noticed that it wasn't as peppy as it usually is. I had to really floor it. The tach didn't go over 3K rpm, but I felt something wasn't right.
The A/C was on, I was going about 70-72 and temerature outside was 90 degrees. There was some wind resistance, but nothing big. I recently got 100K mile service done which included belts and new plugs.
Could this be an transmission issue? I have noticed that when I start in the morning and let it idle for 30-45 seconds, there is a slight whining noise, and I heard that noise the time I floored it on Saturday.
Any suggestions? Could a tranny go so quickly on a 4Runner?
Thanks in advance.
Shan.
