Slip Indicator Always On

Hopefully a quick one.

Went wheeling a while back, knocked the steering wheel pretty far out of center and slip indicator came on.

Had an alignment done, all is good mechanically but slip indicator is still on.

Dropped it at Toyota for an oil change (got a coupon from them) and they want $210 for a “diagnostic” to look into the slip light. Told them to just do the oil change.

Is this something a zero point calibration will likely fix? Alignment shop said they can reset the computer but I’m trying to avoid going back unless I have to cause it’s logistically difficult with covid right now.

Truck shifts into 4wd-low fine.

I would advise spending the $30-$50 and get a blue tooth Carista OBDII reader or similar - save yourself hundreds or thousands over the life of your vehicles by being able to know what's wrong versus the Stealer charging you $210 to plug in the same and tell you whats up.

My guess the ABS wire to a wheel got yanked and is not working. Replacement is literally unplug - and plug in a new one.

I have a Carista and use the same one on both my Toyota's.

Ya I’ve got a reader but it’s in Arizona right now. I find figured if the ABS wire got nicked then the ABS light would be on too, this is just the trac light. I made an SST for doing zero points for my last 4Runner, I may just go ahead and try it tonight just to see what happens.

I was in same situation as you. I had the trac/slip light come on after I put on new front brake pads, even though I was super careful with the abs wires. I did not get any ABS indicator lights though, which was strange


I still do my own brakes and treat the ABS wires same as always and never had a prob after that one occurrence.

Good to know. My just pull the starting battery for a little to reset the system and see what happens.
