small fuel door question

i noticed it says Fuel Door above the fuel gauge. Is it supposed to light up when it's open?

It doesn't lol....

I don't see why it's there if it doesnt light up...

It's just there to tell you which side the fuel door is on.

You'd think that whoever is in the car would either know where the fuel door is or they can walk their lazy ass out of the car... lol.

Hmm... to think I had to ask what it was there for... kinda shows that the arrow isn't all that effective...

Yup, it's for lazy people...as are most of the amenities in modern vehicles.

I find it helpful, especially since I fill up so infrequently (my runner is only used on the weekend and 1-2 days a week). Plus, my VW has the filler on the opposite side...so I tend to get confused!

I think all cars have the same thing telling you which side the door is on;it's helpful if you don't know the car or if you're in a rental. IMO all gas doors should be on the drivers side since that makes the most sense.

I agree, but since the 4Runner/HiluxSurf was designed in a RHD country it seems that the Japanese think otherwise. I can only assume that the filler goes on whatever side the gas tank is on (if it's not central).

I think they stop putting that little reminder on 3rd gen's at some point because I dont think I have that on mine?

Actually alot of foreign car comanies design cars with the american market in mind since that's they're biggest market.
