...Not on my 4Runner.
I've been holding on to my Mom's '92 Celica, and haven't been driving it as it's not registered. I went to jump it of my 4Runner the other day, and just after getting it started, the alternator started pouring out smoke on it. I had left the jumper cables attached, as the electronics on the car were going crazy every time I removed them (wipers turned on, and the tach started jumping around)...
I imagine she'll need a new alternator, but is there any possibility of other damage? Could that mean that the battery is shot? It was apparently a new battery, but has been sitting dead for a few months...
