Smoking?

Hey guys...
I was driving on the freeway and i started smelling like a burnt smell. I checked to make sure that the e brake wasnt still on, but it wasnt. I pulled into the parking lot and saw smoke coming out of the rear driver's side wheel. Im not sure if it was the brakes or something else. Need some advice on what to do. Thanks

Was it a rubber smell? maybe something on the inside is touching the tire?

Idk really. Maybe it was. What do you think would be touching it? But would that make it smoke?

Most likely an oil leak, when u brake it heads up and cooks it making some smoke. If its gets worse the first time u use your break each day will make a solid squeek to burn off what has accumulated while it sat still. May need to replace some shaft seals. There should be two seals on each end of the axle.

If something was touching your tire, friction would make it smoke. Maybe some road debris got lodged up there. Idk, I'm just throwing out ideas... uhhh, maybe something with the drum brakes?

Did it continue to smoke after you stopped? Did your brakes or anything feel different?

My brakes felt fine. It smoked for like a minute after i stopped.

Ya, I really have no idea, but Huskey's idea sounds possible. Look for any oil/fluid leaks.

I only say that because I had this problem, luckily I had a rear locker to install when I noticed my oil leak giving me a chance for a complete rebuild of my axle
