what do u guys recommend VOLANT cold air intake or a safari snorkel? im leaning towards a cold air intake for better performance and better gas milage since gas will be most likley be 4 bucks over here in NJ but i love the design of the snorkel! any recommendations??

Just do the deckplate (7whp dyno proven increase) since MPGs don't increase that much and if you spend alot on a cold air intake it'll be quite a while to recoup the investment from your slight increase in gas mileage.

well... i have done the deckplate mod and appreciated the sound and increased airflow.... i find that the snorkel just generally makes people look....

dont get me wrong, its great to have if you drive down dirt roads following someone or go for the occasional dive in your truck. its also good for a cold air intake... the air up there is colder than you can get in your engine bay and plus, if you have a sun roof, you will love getting on it and hearing it sucking in air... the only reason i got a snorkel though wasnt to increase performance, i just wanted to know that if i met a hole that was a little deep, that i wouldnt lose my engine because of it. if you just want performance, go with the deckplate mod or a cold air kit, if you plan on heavy offroading with LOTS of water crossings then you should get the snorkel...

Any of you know what the best cold air intake snorkel combo is? I’m hoping to have a cold air intake with a snorkel connected to it.

Are you planning deep water crossings soon? If so, you have other things to sort out too.

If not, don't bother with a snorkel and the factory intake is a cold air intake. You could try the ISR mod if you want more noise and a less cluttered engine bay

It depends on an individuals circumstances. I lean towards snorkle.
. I like the look of a snorkle on a 4x4.
. "Cold air" is relative. Where live it's over 100°f for several months, often over 120°.
. We live very rural, nearly all dirt "roads". About ⅓ are upgraded singletrack.
. Flash floods are not uncommon. Our "block" has 5 washes crossing the road, two of them can be substantial.
Still running stock intake. Family seems to find more pressing things to spend my income on, lol.

Yes - the one that comes from the factory - it Is a cold air intake, look where the air enters - via the fender.

Anything that takes air in from the engine bay is really a Hot Air Intake, haha.

Unless you're on the dustiest of roads constantly, skip the snorkel. Don't be a poser. :ranger:

Agreed, but to be fair, a snorkel is a requirement for certain terrain:

I built a custom snorkel that pulls air from right between my butt cheeks, makes easily 500whp now and I’ll race any shitbox on this forum to prove it
