Snow chains for 2020 4runner?

Have 2020 4runner trd off-road and will have falken wildpeak a/t3w which I believe are SLIGHTLY larger than stock, but I guess the same standard 265/70R17 size.

On my previous Audi it specifically recommended no chains so I remember trying to specifically get very low profile ones. Doesn't seem to be an issue on the 4runner, but I saw notes about 5mm diameter for the chain... links? Don't know if that's plenty or on the smaller size. Only other thing I caught was mention to avoid damage to the alloy wheels.

Any recommendations for a chain? I have specific roads where I ABSOLUTELY need them, so no need for comments that they won't be needed

Might I suggest proper snow tires from Nokian's Hakkapeliitta & Nordman lines? I run the Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV's November through March and have never ever had to use the chains I carry. We have property in the Wallowa Valley in eastern Oregon and frequently drive from Portland to Enterprise through the Columbia River Gorge and over the Blue Mountains east of Pendleton. Get some very serious moisture rich icy weather in those zones. It's not lovely dry champagne snow like Colorado and Utah. BC gets some similar winter conditions. Just a thought...

The chains I do carry are SCC Security Chain's Whitestars. Only test fit them in the garage though.

I agree with StuB -- get some good snow tires. In my long life, I have needed chains on my 4x4 only a couple of times.

I have the Z chains, but have never needed them. I run Nokian Studded tires on the 4Runner in the winter. The Z Chains are easy to get on. I would recommend a dedicated winter tire if you are on those roads as well as having the chains. The WPs are a good all season, but dont come close to the Nokians.

I have a set of Rud chains. Originally bought them for my 4th gen I think but recently found them in the garage.

The few times I used them, they were pretty good.

I have 2 sets I used on my xterra and my 4runner. The diamond-pattern type, and the ladder type.

Even though the diamond pattern is supposed to be easier to install, I find the old-style ladder type much easier. The diamond-type rides much smoother.

I don't know which I would pick for sure, but it would likely be the simple, easy ladder type, unless I knew I would have to drive longer distances or higher speeds. Then the other kind.

We have family in North Van and Kelowna that we travel from Edmonton to see every Christmas season. I've always ran studded Duratracs on my 4r and my wife's xterra (when she had it). No matter what the conditions on hwys 1, 5, 7,3, 97a/b/c/x, or 99, neither of us have ever had issues.

That said, if you figure you need chains, try these guys

I'm curious though, where are you driving?
