Snow Challenge today

Well, my friend and co-worker recently got a F-150, and promptly declared his truck better off-road or in snow than mine. We had an opportunity today for work to go off road, where the snow and ice has been untouched all year.

He made it approximately 20 feet before tires were spinning and he dug himself in a nice little hole. Of course I told him I should have driven, but he insisted he wouldn't get stuck. The snow/ice was a little more than halfway up the tires, but he couldn't get any traction (he had it in 4Lo). I grabbed the shovel and dug out around his tires enough for me to rock him back and forth to get out.


We are heading back to the same spot later today, this time with my 2010 Limited. We always debated our trucks and which was better (he had a Ranger, I had an '03 limited before this). I'm feeling confident that this will settle it once and for all

Remember your secret weapon if your in 4 LOW .......ATRAC on and keep it at about 2000rpm! Use your S mode shifter to keep the revs/speed where you want them. It's almost like cheating! :naughty:
The only thing that should stop you is ground clearance even though the Alenza's are rated average for snow.

An extra 100lbs or more hidden in the back would be cheating?:lmao:

Didn't make it :rant:

Well...it didn't turn out quite the way I planned :lol:

I got farther than he did, only about 1 1/2 car lengths more before coming to a complete stop. Tried everything from H4L to 4LO with ATRAC, and nothing was going to get me moving. Tires just spun....he took a video which I'll see if I can get. Ground clearance was definitely a problem, as was tires I'm sure.

To answer some questions, he had it in 4LO to begin, then 4HI when trying to get out. No weight of any consequence in either of our vehicles.

All in all, it was fun...disappointing that I couldn't make it, but at least I got to try all the tech gizmos :guitar2:

And I did make it farther than he did :biggrin2:
 
Nah...just some digging around the tires and rocking it back and forth

If I got pulled out by a Jeep the story would never have been told...
