I just got back from wheelin in the snow and my 285/75 ko2's did just fine
It is probably too late to help your choice but I live in Gunnison and for me the best tires I've ever had in the winter are definitely Blizzaks. There's not much difference compared to all terrains on the snow but where it really counts is on the ice, and there, Blizzaks are king IMO.

There's a huge difference between snow wheeling in the deep stuff and having good traction on icy roads. The two conditions don't even compare, and a tire that has good traction in one will not in the other. KO2s and Duratracs and the like are acceptable on winter roads, but not ideal (I have a set of Duratracs on the '99 4Runner, most overrated tire ever IMO). If you want good snow tires for her commute, you want dedicated winter tires. The last time had dedicated winter tires I used Firestone Winterforce, I liked them, but I hear the Blizzaks and Nokians are better.

I bought a dedicated winter tire this season.
265/75 16 Arctic Claw with studs.
Works very well on slick roads and snowy conditions on the highway, not as well in real deep snow on unplowed roads.

Goodyear Duratracs for the front range.
I have studded Coopers on the work truck, studded Hankook s on the T4r, and blizzacks on the wife's audi.
So far, I've only had a scary moment on the Hankook s. 5mph coming down the Storm Mountain access road turning one of the tightest switchbacks. Tires broke loose, I did a 360 and came to rest gently against the guard rail. Hooray for a wider stance. ...only the sidewall touched the rail.
4wd may be enough for you city folk, but I'll laugh and pull you out of the ditch if you try that shit on my mountain. I still have to chain up when the snow isn't packed down yet, and when I'm pulling some fool out of the ditch Again. Mild winter this year, and I've already rescued 10. One rolled into the river. Broken ribs, broken head.
Based on one winter, my ranking first to last is: blizzacks, studded Cooper s, studded Hankook s.

I'm on a set of the last generation (non-studded) Blizzaks for trucks, DM-Z3's or something, and they're all only at 5-6/32'nds, so only 30-40% of serviceable life left. Arguably, probably only really reliable for another short winter.
They slip and slide a bit, but nothing worrisome with VSC off and center diff locked. Just have to finish braking before turning, and throttle through understeer and catch the mild oversteers.
Looking forward to new full-depth winters next winter.
