Snow Tires

What does everyone recommend for a snow tire?

I currently have 265/70/16 all seasons and I wasn't impressed with their performance in the snow last year (4WD doesn't help with stopping).

So I'd like a dedicated snow tire. I plan to do a lot of driving through snow, slush, and ice. I don't want/need an off-road tire or a studded tire. I'd like it to still be drivable and quiet on the highway.

For those that do switch over to snow tires, do you go a size or two skinnier? Would it make much of a difference? I don't want to give up too much stability when driving on dry pavement.

I just switched to all-seasons from A/Ts last year and loved the difference (except in the snow). Plus I have a second set of wheels, so I don't plan on switching back to A/Ts.

I love my Grabber AT 2's and there excellent in the snow! they look cool sound quite and even have little holes in the tread to where you can put studs in if you want. they have more sipes (spelling?) than the BFG's but have a similar look. awesome tire! love them much i do!:boink:

The Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour is an AT tire with the mountain snowflake for sever weather making it a true winter tire.

Heard very good stuff about the "Goodyear Fortera Tripletred" and the "Firestone Destination A/T" ..considering those 2 for my next tire set. they both good in snow from what a heard.

I use GEOLANDAR I/T in winter. Great on ice and snow handling.
