Snowboard rack on the rear window

How well do you guys thing something like this would work on the rear window of our 3rd gens??
Anyone tried it? Pictures of your setup? Care to share? I run a standard Thule cargo box but sometimes hate climbing on my 4runner to access it and seems like this would make things a little easier.

I feel it would work awesome on our cars... very few cars have a rolling rear window.

The Thule 575 snowboard rack was my other option... But I'd still have to climb ontop if my 4runner.

my only reservation is that it would almost act like a spoiler, and whos to say that at freeway speeds that something isnt going to break. in that picture its sideways and can handle cutting through the air, but on the back window it would be a different angle.

if its that annoying for you, try and do something with the trailer hitch. get one of those cargo baskets for the hitch, and rig up some snow board racks on it.

How about a trailer hitch rack? I believe Thule and Yakima have some.

It seems that with the large amount of space in and on a 4Runner, that it would be foolish to have to hang some boards off of your rear window, blocking your view to the rear probably hearing the vibration from the turbulence. You are after all creating a big spoiler.
Just get yourself some roof racks or store them in the truck. No need for a silly contraption like that.
I actually have a Yakima rack for the roof and ONLY use it when I am transporting 4 people to the mountain. All other times and the boards go in the truck. Security, road salt, convenience.

I agree. I know a couple people who have had roof racks fail (for no apparent reason), so I always keep it in the 4runner unless absolutely neccessary. If you must get a rack (of sorts), get a hitch mount. They are relatively cheap and craigslist is an excellent source for used ones.
