Snowboard Rack Question

I am looking at the Thule 725 and the Yakima Big PowderHound SE. Both seem to be good quality, but the Thule costs a little more. Can someone shed some light on the pros and cons of each? Hopefully this will help me come to a decision.

I can't speak to the Thule, but I've always used Yaks and had zero problems.

Note sig below, I have the big model on my T4R....

I just got the Thule 575 snowboard carrier. It comes with the fat mouth clamps and locks which you'll need to buy if you go with the 725. Retails for $109 but I got mine off eBay for $53.

So I think I will go with Yakima, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the big powderhound and the lift ticket 6. Can someone shed light on this?

Yeah, I researched their site before I posted here, and its not really all that helpfull in telling you what is different between the two models.

Anyway, I stopped by a local racknroad and they hooked me up with a liftticket6, locks, and mightymounts.

I have Yakima Button Down 6 Promo rack for 2 years. It's good one, but this year I decided to go with Thule Evolution 1600 box. I'm tired of cleaning dirt and salt from my snowboard. If you have mountains right across the street that's OK, but I do have to go 150km (~95miles) to resort using two highways, which most of the time covered with mixed of snow, water/ice, dirt and salt. Second thing is box will give me more room inside; I can through some gear in the box. And finally - it's much fuel efficient. I'm getting 5-6l/100km more gas with the racks and 4-5 snowboards. My friend has Thule box and his gain is 2-3l/100km.

I'm going to go with a box on the roof I think. That way it will keep the boards and the gear out of the elements and I can use it for camping trips as well. Little more expensive though...looks like the ones I like are around $500...ouch!

I got mine THULE Evolution 1600 for Christmas. Tried it yesterday. Man its great. No noise, at 120km/h (75mph) it was silent, so I thought I lost it, no vibration at all (mounted to stock crossbars). With my previous 2 sets of Yakima Button Down 6 Promo and 4 snowboards I was getting 15.2 l/100km (15.4mpg) consumption at 120-125km/h (75-80mph), Yesterday I got 12.8 l/100 (18.3mpg). This all with the same load - 4snowboards. Good increase ~ 2.4 l/100km (2.9mpg) compare to average consumption without anything on the roof 11-12 l/100km (20-21mpg)
