Snowboards - 1, Roofrack - 0

[Magnum]

Went to Mt Snow yesterday loaded up 4 snowboards on my thule snowboard holder connected to factory roofracks. The passenger back roofrack doesn't tighten down to good (was like that when i got the truck in july). Figure though since the other side is good shouldn't be that big of a problem. Well i was wrong first two pics are of when we got there. Seems the passenger side one slide all the way to the back of the roofrack rail which then made the driver side one pop off the piece that tightens down. Somehow everything was still there when we got to the mountain. Third picture is on the way home, stopped at a tru value down the road and got some rope to tie both sides to the front racks supports that were good. Looks like i need to find a junkyard with the whole back rack system and or maybe a whole new passenger rail if its not just the back support that's broken.

Mine did the same thing. The junk yard sold me another for $30

The cross bad snapped out of those two pieces that hold it in, when the boards were off i popped the crossbar back into place.

Mt snow was good, prolly way better on thurs after the storm. Towards the end of the day the wind whipped away a good amount of the snow plus all the people snowplowing made the ice come out in spots. If you stuck to the outsides of the trails you got the powder still which was nice. Mountain was empty which made it good as well.

They are when you remember to close them. Not a good time when you hear the clackety-clack of the boards gouging and scraping their way off the roof and onto the street. :cry2:

Haha ohhh come on! howd the hell that happen. I would be a little disturbed if that happened to me i must admit. : )

yeah i lock mine as well, i don't even trust them to stay closed

Oh, no. None of that. The racks stay shut when you remember to shut them. Unfortunatley in the haste to make first tracks or after a couple of pops in the lodge, you are not so careful with making sure the racks are closed. Especially when you're in a hurry to hit the happy hour bars. All you have to do is look and you'll see people leaving the mountain with the racks popped up. Maybe this problem is a bit more prevalent at Killington versus most other mountains!:cheers:

haha okay okay. PS beer bottle caps make good end caps if you lose the stock ones on yakima cross bars. Just a little glue and your set!
