So Cal Water Restrictions

Wanted to wash my T4 yesterday afternoon, then this afternoon. Thanks to the Calif water rules I had to wait for my water day and do it before 6a or after 6p.

I was a good citizen and followed the rules. No water reached the street, it all went to the planter or lawn.

Wish I could get the T4 into the back yard. Why does it matter when I do it?? *&^*% policy makers.

The Express Wash can replace regular car washing. The Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere works great too, I use it in between washes for a touch up. There are other brands too, here's a link to a thread that isn't brand specific

Besides not running the hose, you can wash in the middle of the afternoon inside your garage and out of the sun with these types of washes.

i live in orange county too. what are the water restrictions? Ive been using my pressure washer and foam canon to cut down. but, haven't seen any actual rules. I just saw that you need to have a shut off valve on your hose.

Don't wanna piss the neighbors off even more if i event even seen them.

Water days are odd or even days on a calendar based on the last number of your address. Try to program that in a sprinkler timer without having to re-program it each week.

I will have a difficult time to leave my T4 looking like the photo until 6p the next day.

Over 900 gallons for a half pound of steak.

1-4 gallons for EACH individual almond you eat.

This is from multiple news articles, including the OC Register which is a very conservative paper.

Californians need to wake up fast to the type of agriculture that is being grown here because right now all the focus is on the home user but the real water suck is "exotic crops" such as almonds.

So to address your post .... I wouldn't feel too guilty about it. just wash your car at 8am or after 4.

Note they have not put any restrictions on car wash businesses. How is that fair? Why should they get to run all the water and not you?

When it comes to washing cars in driveways the main thing is to have a spray nozzle on your hose so it doesn't just run endlessly.

This is a stupid law "Restaurant shall not serve water to their customers except when specially asked". How much water will we save from this? I will order dry Pho from now on so I can save water to wash my car.

For whom don't know, Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most car washes recycle the water? I know when I lived in AZ they did, and have assumed that they do in CA as well. I always keep my jar of quarters handy and go to one of the places where you do it yourself.

Will be interesting to return to CA shortly and see just how bad it's gotten. We're pretty much at ground zero for the drought in the Central Coast. Doesn't do a damn bit of good to cut down on watering our lawn or anything, since the wineries are using about 75% of the groundwater anyway. I do love Central CA wines though!

Correct, this is why most cities recommend going to a car wash center rather than you washing it at home. Now it about averages out if you have a shut off nozzle at the hose end, and don't just leave the water running the entire time you wash your car. Its interesting seeing how much of a percentage some cities have to save vs last year. A typical residence uses only 30% of water inside the home and about 70% on irrigation.

Because they recirculate the water. It is more water efficient than having people wash their cars themselves.

I haven't seen any restrictions in Anaheim yet, but my Tacoma and 4runner are collecting dust, dirt, and mud (from the rain a couple weeks ago) regardless to do my part.

I also don't like the car washes because a lot of that dirt just gets trapped in the brushes and causes swirl marks. I'd rather wash them myself and keep the paint/clear coat damage to a minimum.

Thanks for posting that. I will have an idea of what their plan is when they implement it.

I can tell in my neighborhood that most people don't care by the green color of their lawn. I just think it's a ploy for the big users of the water to keep the price down for them.
