My friend and I (he drives a '98 4Runner) are planning to do an easy trail run on Sat morning Feb 10, 2007 at 8:30am. We are planning to go to around Santiago Canyon in the Santa Ana mountains. I think its 4x2 friendly. Let me know if you want to go.

That sounds like fun. Where exactly is that trail? Cross streets?

My only concern is that with only 350 miles on my 4R, it might be a little to soon to hit the dirt.

If I decide to go, maybe I can also talk my roomate into joining the fun. He has an 07 Taco 4WD that he wants to get dirty.

Plus, I want to see some of your mods (so I can steal them and make them my own. :p :D ;): )

The entrance we are going to is Santiago Canyon and Jamboree in Orange. It has fire roads and is shared by atv's and motorcycles. This is the first time my friend and I are going to the trail. It is part of the Cleveland National forest.

Hey Kenn!

How was the trail?

Sorry I didn't make it out. My roommate had plans this morning and I had a good night last night.   :biggrin2:

We were talking about possibly taking a trail run tomorrow (Sunday).

Also, post some pics of the trail if you've got them.

Anyhow, I still would like to see your ride. You've done some things with it that I could make good use of.

Hey guys, can I join in the fun? :biggrin2:

Kenn, I have gone to the trail your talking bout a few times and another one that is near our area Sid. Would be cool to have a mini caravan of 4runners. I'll bring the camera! Pretty much any Saturday or Sunday I'm available.

Yeah, of course you can join. We should plan something for the last weekend in Feb.

Are you talking about Holy Jim Canyon? I used to take my 2wd truck out there all the time back in the day. There is also a place out past Wildomar (off Ortega Hwy) to get dirty. I haven't been out there in a long time either.

No matter what we decide, I'd probably like to start on a trail that is fairly easy, just so I can learn what the 4R is capable of. Plus, I don't want to break anything before I hit 1000 miles. :D

We went on the 30+ miles of fire road. It was very easy and it is a great start to offroading. It is very 2wd friendly. We ran into some FJ cruisers and a Taco. I talked to them and apparently they frequent fjcruiserforums. It is a great scenic drive and great to get away from the conrete jungle and pavement. It was too long, but you can get off around El Toro I think if you want to cut it short. We did go to the Wildomar and I was suddenly transported from beginner fire roader to offroader. Wildomar was a blast, but too many branches for my first time. Scratched the Runner a little, but they were all very superficial scratches. It will come off very easily. I learned alot in Wildomar about the capabilities with stock suspension and stock Bridgestones. Pics will be in the gallery section by tomorrow.

I would be down to go again.
