Ok.. well I bought my 95 runner last months and so far I started by buying brand new tires, I would like to have gone bigger but they are good for now..
31 all terrain ko's.. ..
then it took me hours to figure out how to get the axle off my drivers side as it had a bad cv boot.. got the new one and put it in and im thankful that is over with.. while pulling the broken axle out I tried to move something out of the way.. I didnt know what it was but when trying to get the nut off I broke it..
realized it goes from one side to the other.. found out thats my sway bar and I broke the linkage.. great.....
on to the next thing.. I changed out my idler arm and that was not a bid deal except one bolt started stripping on me and I was a lil frustrated but finally got it.. the pitman arm.. oh joy... I got the nuts off and just couldnt get that thing to come loose.. found out I needed a tool called a pitman arm remover.. went to auto zone and they gave me a tool and I took it home..
come to find out.. its not the right tool.. go back.. the guy gives me a thicker one.. I tried and tried.. even used a torch to heat it up.. never budged for me.. So I ended up having to drive it down to a corner shop where they charged me 150 to get that sucker off there and put my new one on for me.. had them do an alignment and was done with that.. hurray..
now.. back to that piece I BROKE.. I go to auto zone and ask them for my sway bar end links.. they say I need a repair kit.. I take this home and low and behold.. its not what I needed.. go back to auto zone.. ask for the real thing and they have to order it.. instead I go to Salvo auto parts and ask for it there.. and they have one in stock.. next salvo 20 min drive to get one from them.. then back home and slap them on.. so far it hasnt been a real fun experience.. BUT.. it has been a learning experience...
a couple things now about my truck that someone could maybe answer please....
after driving and then parking my car.. I notice 3 drip spots of oil in my drive way.. every time and about 5 drips from each one.. then it stops..
its dripping from three different spots under my truck.. one in the middle.. one on the corner of one side and one off the corner of the other side..
2. I am used to little 2 seaters and rice burners with some power in light cars.. I feel as though there is not a lot of power in my truck.. its a 3.0
six cylinder.. is this normal? I know its probably a lot heavier than a car..
3. it seems the transmission is touchy.. so if I am doing 55 it will go into 5th gear but if I touch the pedal a little to speed up.. it instantly drops to 4th or even 3rd.. is that normal?
well.. now to get flares for my wheels cause the state says they are sticking out to far.. maybe 1/4th of an inch.. ha ha...
