(Incase anyone is wondering, My 4runner is still my DD, its not going anywhere)

Yeah, its another vehicle just not a 4runner, :D well its was only gonna be a matter of time before i was back in the "best 4x4xfar". And the time has come, i wanted one again, i have looked for over a year for one of these and have saved up for longer, and finally a truck that fell into my ideal specs was found. I wanted a solid running truck with minimal rust for $5k, and i found better, it has a galvy frame and a few other things, and just surface rust if any elsewhere. The body has a little bit of damage and the paint is shot but thats just adds character to these things! I picked it up in upstate NY today and my father drove it back the 300 miles as i followed him in the tdi.

Enough talk here is the Specs and Pics:
1974 NAS Spec Land Rover Series 3 SW 2.25 Petrol motor, 4 speed
Limestone Paint, Optional Overdrive, Standard Roof, 7 seats, and a Weber 2bbl carb are the cool specs worth mentioning.

That is nice. Not too much rust but definitely a good truck to make special.

I was back in Charleston, SC this past week and saw this kid's Defender 90 that has been sitting on the side of the road in the downtown area, hit by every tourist's car and delivery truck. Such a shame.

Sweet Ride! I love those old land rovers, one of the only other good SUV's out there, looks to be in fantastic shape! Its an aluminium body right?
Now you have to get a MAG to mount to the hood.

Too cool. I love old Land Rover's. So iconic despite the fact that the LC killed them off worldwide.

The appeal was awesome, even an M3 driver waved as did a jacked up FJ Cruiser! This was the safari car, the land cruiser took over about 15 years ago. This is the legend, when someone says safari, this is what you think of.

Thanks! Im gonna put the spare on the hood, it is in great shape, glad you see past the body. Yes the body is aluminum, the bulkhead is steel, and rusts but this was fixed and patched already.

Gas motor w/an automatic. Doesn't this go against everything you stand for?

It is a gasser, but not an auto, these were never available with such an option, its a 4 speed manual with and external overdrive unit. Trying to find a 4bt or 6at for it, but that would be off in the future, but i am contemplating an allison behind that, but i probably won't.

It will be a very special truck, i worked my ass of for it.

What happened to that Defender? a bunch of people ran into it?

That's so cool! I actually saw a dark green one the other day only difference was it had a spare tire carrier on the back. I actually followed him to talk to him cause from a few cars behind I thought it was fj40..

I disapprove!!! But I guess that you are entitled to making poor decisions as a young guy! :D Just kidding. Good pickup.

I guess that your name now makes more sense! :)

Congrats John!

I follow FJ's and Land Rovers, but I've waved to a few FJ owners and they just disregard me, but i have had the same happen with Defender owners, some people are just pricks. I actually love the FJ40, i almost bought one this summer, but it was a little too much body and frame rot.

i've known you for a while and i know you really wanted this truck, congrats bud, enjoy it :)

Yeah, i am so exicited I'm sitting in it on the computer blasting music lol.

Although a spare on the hood is the correct item for that location, by MAG I was referring to the belgian machine gun.
And when Guns and Cars are mentioned pictures are needed:

The second picture is of a Defender I used to have, I miss that thing so much!

You had a Wolf? Must have been pretty recently due to the 25 year exemptions. Someone on D-90 source has a 110 that looks pretty similar, its called something but i don't know what.

This isn't my first run in with Land Rover, when i was 16 (turning 20 this week), my father had a 95 D90 that i go to use before my 4runner came, and that is what started this all, but that truck came and went really quick. Ill post up a pic in a min of my D90.

Very cool = = Congrats!

I rode in a new D110 which were imported (500 only) in 1991 or 2 that the LR dealer had. Also rode in an old warrior like yours on a hunting trip on a game ranch. The epitome of a safari vehicle.

Thanks, a good friend on mine has a 93 NAS Spec 110, that he had restored and repainted blue, i driven it many times, and it is just a beast.

A warrior is what it is, i can safely say that there is nothing else i have driven that feels like it, not even the Defenders.

talking on the cell phone while putting gas..?

lol

Not really an issue, this summer i have pumped well over 200 gallons of diesel and gas each day except sundays, and not once have had an issue due to anything else i was doing.

And to Thai, Thanks, you should find an old G-wagen that someone imported and doesn't want anymore, I'm sure if its diesel it could fit in your fuel efficient fleet!

Here is the shot of my fathers ex 1995 SW Defender (manual of course):

Love it. Can't understand why all the companies make their vehicles look so queer these days, as classic looks are... what's the word I'm looking for... CLASSIC!
