So I got my DDM HID kit in..

..and the Fed Ex man was scared of the dog, so he THREW the box on the front porch from his truck and left. Instead of leaving it on the pump house where the dog couldn't get it like a sane person (UPS driver) would do. So, needless to say, the dog got it and messed it up pretty good. I hate that dog. :gun5:

The ballasts themselves are fine. He chewed on the bulbs some, so I don't know if they're going to work or not without exploding. The main problem is the wiring, obviously. Hoping I can solder and tape it enough to work without shorting out. The ballasts themselves and the relay harness are all good.

So now I have to see if I can salvage my 60 dollar investment:

Send it back and let DDM know what happened. You might get lucky and get a new set up.
Shoot the dog.
Punch Fedex dude in the throat for being dumb?
 
holy crap, that blows! I would call Fed-Ex too and tell them what happened. Im not sure DDM would replace it but then again the dog ate your HID kit so technically you didn't modify the kit lol! they may send you a new one. good luck man
 
I would definitely call Fed Ex, especially if you saw him do it.

I don't know if DDM would take those back since they will think the wires were cut. I read that somewhere online.

That really blows though. After waiting to get them and then this happens.

I also read that two of the wires are high power and can't be reconnected if cut, but that the other two are fine.

Keep us updated on what you do.
 
Call 1-800-go-fedex

Tell them what happened. Was it Ground(greed and purple) or Express(red and purple)? Have the tracking # when you call. If it was ground then it was either an independent contractor or an employee of an independent contractor (or possibly a temp driver) and the contractor that owns the route will be charged with the complaint. If it's express then it's an employee that will be reprimanded. Either way, call, complain, try to get this paid for and help get a bad driver off your route so future deliveries go better.

Already talked to FedEx and although they were very helpful, they made it clear there was nothing they could do. They did make a note never to leave a package within my dog's reach again.

I don't know why the hi power vs low power wires would matter. They seem to just be regular wires. Either way, it's worth a shot..

did you use an angry voice when you called them? :rant: that sucks though i guess i can see how they wouldn't take responsibility for something like that.

As for those bulbs, my box had a sticker warning on it if they explode that it can cause some harmful situations. I cant remember exactly what it said but it almost sounded like they self destruct so they dont cause an explosion or fire or something... maybe someone will chime in about that.

Fed Ex kind of sucks in these situations. I sent a package overnight for my boss to So Cal and it was delayed an extra day due to weather. They didn't even really care that we needed there the next day, didn't offer any compensation ($150 to ship it overnight) and wouldn't give us any timeframe for the delivery the next day.

Thank sucks about the HID's and very nice of Big John.

Upon further inspection, though, he had gotten ahold of the harness and severed some wires there too. It was a lost cause. I'm going to need a full kit.

And of course, since he's my wife's big baby I can't do anything.

Guess I'll be waiting on the HIDs a little longer. :(

I didn't realize you had 55w so my bulbs won't work.
