So tell me about Arizona

Don't forget Tucson! Not quite the heat, it always is about 5-15 degrees cooler in the summer. Plus it actually gets cooler at night here versus the concrete jungle of phoenix. That and we don't have near the traffic. Plus you don't have to deal with traffic depending upon which side of town you live. I happen to love the north Tucson/Oro Valley/Marana/Dove Mountain areas of the town!

No where near the traffic! Are you kidding me! Nothing in that town moves faster than 35mph. It takes longer to get from the edge of town into the east end than Phoenix to Tucson. My folks joke that not only do they not want to build freeways (they have none) they want to tear up the pavement. Phoenix at least moves and has a pretty good freeway system.

As I had said "depending upon which side of town you live" I live in the north side of Tucson, so I never deal with traffic. Yes I wish they would build a freeway around the base of the mountains to get you from one side of town to the other, but I always go the ways to avoid traffic when I have to go "into town"

Well, found the address at work. Without giving away to much personal info, the office is located in the vicinity of Interstate 17, and 101.

So seems that half say avoid Arizona, half say it might be worth the move.

That's a good location. Live in North Phoenix, West Phoenix, or Cave Creek and you'll have an easy commute. You can avoid Phoenix as much as you want. Tons of great wheeling, hunting, exploring, or just get of town options north of there.

big time good location. Easy 90 minute drive to Flagstaff from there. Sedona, Verde Valley, hell even Payson is a quick detour compared to driving from Tucson. Don't let the heat thing scare you too much. It is a dry heat, and as long as you don't work out in it, have a car with good AC you can survive in it.

I would consider the career and if I was raising a family or not. Career wise, Phoenix has some great opportunities.
As far as raising a family, it is not a good place for raising a family.
You have to figure what your priority is.

Yes you can deal with the heat
Yes you can deal with the crime
Yes you can deal with the traffic
Yes you can deal with the crowds

Just make sure you are willing to make the trade off

Very true, heck I don't want to finish my backyard in my new house because I like to sleep in on the weekends and by the time I get up it's too damned hot to be motivated to go playing in the dirt!
