Bought 98...
It has this override switch.
I accidently hit this the other day. Alarm went crazy...
I have to transmitter.
After 6 phones calls to the stealership I was able to disarm by removing negative from bat and waiting 5 min and turn key to "on" and reconnecting neg.

Q: Is this factory? I'm guessing "no". The indicator light flashes the same setting as the manual states.

Q: How do I go about getting the right transmitter? How do i determine who makes this? i know I need code for transmitter?

I basically want to lock/unluck car and arm alarm. Should i just take it to an independent alarm place and have them look at it?

I can't tell if you have a Factory Alarm w/ a Factory Transmitter

or

Aftermarket Alarm.

Anywho...

I use to have a Phyton Alarm on my old car & Clifford G4 on my other car.

Once...I accidently hit something & had no idea what went wrong.

My friend told me that I accidently had it in VALET mode.

Not sure if this will fix your problem, but what I did w/ my Phyton Alarm, it had (2) Buttons.

[A] &

I opened the Front Driver door & pressed [A], , [A] ... it turned off VALET mode & went back to what I wanted.

I suggest you click the Override back to the original position & try the same.

I bought my replacement OEM Factory Transmitter off Ebay. I found a seller that had High 90s in Feedback. Paid about $30

And how you can tell which transmitter to get...look at the back of your Factory Remote.

To yhelp determine what make alram you have, you can FAX-Back for free the install and operating manuals for that year vehicle --- saves ripping the dash apart. If it is the OEM alarm then you can just look for your year model on ebay and it should give you the FCC id transmitter number. Get one that matches and the programming steps (on line or here). Dealer can program too but expect to pay $80 or so.
