So what tread depth to replace tires

According to the penny test I'm still okay (legal 2/32?), and with George I'm right at the top of his head (4/32?)...

I'm on a set of Revo originals right now with 58,000 miles and just hitting the first (ribbed) wear bar which looks to be at 4/32". If it were spring, I wouldn't mind running these maybe another 5,000 miles through the summer; however, I know winter is around the corner and Bridgestone is running their fall $100 rebate sale through October 2nd.

I'm not planning to run them to the cords... but what is everyone's two cents on how long to run a tire?? I'm thinking about getting a set of Revo2s with the sale they're running.

Play it safe and replace them. What's a few thousand more miles vs much better tires in the winter, eh?

ive always felt a tire looses much of its winter ability after half the tread is gone so i almost always unload em between 35-40 k at the most. but thats me, like u said the revos are on sale til oct. i hear it can be as much as 45 a tire less depending on who u get them from, so my 2c is u got ur moneys worth out of the old tires , get the revos while they are on sale.

You only know know you don't have enough traction when you need it. 58k out of tires is excellent. Take the rebate and order up! Plus, while your tires are still legal, put an ad on Craigslist and sell them for $80 for the set. It beats paying $8 tire disposal.
