so whats the real difference between 3rd and 4th gens?

hey guys, glad to be a member of this community and looking to sell my 1995 BMW M3 for a Toyota 4runner. Reason being I have too many bills and such a car isnt practical for me right now. So I want to get something I wont have to worry about, something that doesnt require premium gas and something I can drive all year round. I want either a 4runner or a pathfinder.

Now my question is what is the real difference between the 3rd and 4th gen 4runners besides the 3 litre V6 and the 3.4 and the different grille. What are the pros and cons of each?

If anyone near Northeastern Pennsylvania is interested in selling or trading please let me know.

or is it 2nd and 3rd gens? the ones that look almost the same.

yes. its the 2nd and 3rd gen that look the same. If you look at the bottom of the page it goes from left to right, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st. Of the changes from 2nd to 3rd, I know the 3rd gen got rid of the 2.? and added a 3.4 and I think the 3.0 was still there. Other changes were some minor ones like the body and the interior. The major changes were from 3rd - 4th and 1st - 2nd. Welcome to the forum.
