Anza Boreggo Campgrounds

let's make this happen guys. this should be a great place as theres stuff for everyone, 2wd, 4wd, v6, v8, whatever! more info to come as we sort out the logistics. you can send me an email at [email protected] with some contact info, i'll add it to our contact roster and send it out sometime next week.

SOunds interesting, I will have to check my calendar to see if I can make it work. A bit of a long drive for me it seems.
 
Doesn't look good at the moment, more than an 8 hour drive for me and a Sunday run. Will look into it more as I am trying to get my sliders mounted the Saturday in SLO.
 
I wish I could make it, but school's taking too much of my time. Maybe we could have another one sometime in the summer!

Anyway, you guys have fun and take some pictures to show me what I missed.

i'm not too sure but dcampen knows of a couple and he's doing some research into other trails too. feel free to throw out some suggestion guys!

The trips on Sunday we plan to chose to accomodate 2WD vehicles. Arroyo Salado in the Borrego Badlands and Arroyo Tapiado in the Carrizo Badlands are my suggestions. I will be there on Saturday to check out current conditions on these trails. If I have another 4Wd vehicle with me on Saturday I would like to explore some of the many other trails in these 2 areas.

Primitive camping is available anywhere in the park. I will be spending Saturday night at the Borrego Palms campground where there are toilets and showers and the camp sites have fire rings and sheltered picnic tables.

Click on Borrego Palm Canyon and then on campsites 53-89 or 108-120 (lower numbered campsites are only for trailers).
 
It's far. mapquest it out. for me, I drive thru palm springs (and I live in LA) so that'll give you an idea.

I believe you're route will consist of going down the 15 and then hooking east on 76 or something like that thru SD zoo (wild life).
 
Irvine to Borrego Springs

Mapquest gives Irvine to Borrego Springs as 130 miles, 2 hours 51 minutes

Pasadena to Borrego Springs is given as 148 miles, 3 hours 11 minutes.

154.8 from Redondo , 3hrs 14 minutes. For 6.5 hrs of commute, there better be some wicked trail time out there!
 
there should be plenty of trails, and if any of this excess rain reached anza-borrego, there ought to be some interesting mud to play in :D
 
itll probably be more like 3 hrs 30 mins or so. i think mapquest assumes that youre driving at the speed limit or below.
 
Can we start to finalize the start time? Since it's a Sunday I'm probably going to want to head out of there by 3pm at the latest.
