Soft Topper Thoughts, ETA when ordering, durability?

I'm curious about bad the wind noise is with one of these. Not that our 4runners are quiet to begin with but is the noise much worse?

In comparison to the hardtop, the softtop actually has less wind noise, but you can hear traffic more. Might have to do with the hard tops sliding side window channels.

Have been contemplating the soft topper for a while now. My main question is it worth it? I currently put a bikini top on mine for some shade and keep my back seats from getting soaked but the problem is putting the hard top on sucks. Do y'all leave the soft topper on year round?

I leave it on all year. You're not supposed to though.

A guy here on the forum from Montana leaves his on year round and has had it for years and it's fine.

Under 40 degrees you're supposed to be really careful with the window plastic because it can crack.

I have heard if you call them you can sometimes barter the 40 dollar shipping cost.

yes, bob did give me a discount. i'm very happy with the softopper. i wish i lived in an area where i didnt have to ever put the hard top back on!

you don't have to. i leave the soft top on my cj all year. the top is now 20 years old. it does have some wear, but the windows are still pretty clear. just have to be gentle in cold weather. for most people, getting at least 10 to 15 years service from a soft top is plenty.

Nearly half the year is winter by me and I feel the same way. I want to leave it on all year but it will definately get destroyed. Especially since my area salts the shit out of the roads.

I plan to paint my hardtop white around fall time zo its fresh for the winter. Taking off the softop is easy if you remove it while it is in its pouch (while its already converted). Pull the pins and remove it rails and all.

Its a pretty strong canvas material, as opposed to vinyl. Call them and ask I guess, but I cannot imagine a problem.
