I have a question that I couldn't find an answer to by searching. I got the Solara unit from OEM- but didnt' get a speed/reverse sensor wire- is there anyway to "make" one. If so- please advise.

Thanks

None of us got any wire from OEMVALUE.

You will need to purchase some 18 guage wire from Home Depot or Lowes. I recommend 10 feet (that way you can play with it some and it is so damn cheap).

Also, do yourself a favor and go to radio shack and purchase these

Crimp on Telephone Wire Connector

Simple, painless, easy!

You will need something like this for the end that connects to the Nav unit. Now, I happen to have had a 3 pin connector that I used, but it was from a old computer speaker. But you get the idea.

Did you get installation instructions with the unit as well? - All I got was the unit itself, the GPS and wire-CD and thats it- no other instruction on how to install, what wires to tap into- how to tap into them, or anything. As a complete electrical moron- I have no real clue electrically what I'm doing unless its pretty much laid out in front of me. Everything else- I'm able to manage, but electricity is just something I don't play around with.

That helps a bit- Thanks- I guess my only question is how do I figure out which wires to tap into for the speed and reverse.

You should have received an email from troy at oemvalue.com that provides you with a link that has pictures and detailed instruction on what to do.

If you did not get the email, send an email to troy Krzyston at [email protected] and tell him to send it out!

I don't have the link anymore or I'd give it to you.

here's the thread that has the link to the wiring diagram for the 2003. For what it's worth, I found that the speed/rev wires were in the same place and same colors between the 2003 and 2004. anyone with a 2005 confirm that?

I found the speed sensor wire in the junction point that is just behind the A/C controls and the rev sensor wire over behind the passenger's right kick panel on the floor in the front. All those junction point locations are in the wiring diagram.
