Ha yeah ! let me put that in the past tense, I did love my 4 runner, but not any more. Replaced with Forester XT.

275k miles on the clock and I think I've replaced every suspension component, swapped trans, and minus a small oil leak shes pretty much like new. Hope she goes at least another 200k or more!

Having any non OEM parts on a toyota makes it a Subaru.

I totally get it....but for my needs the Suby would not work. So when this one gets to be more work than driving...I'll just find another one and swap over the parts. Luckily I live where within a few hours drive there are lots of 4 Runners and few have been off the pavement.

I get no enjoyment out of working on things instead of using them.

Good choice OP. Forester XT 2.5L Turbo? Slap some STI components over and its making 300hp unless its a newer XT model.
