Any of the 1st and 2nd gen 4Runners (both 4Cyl and 6Cyl) are widely viewed as being underpowered. My '87 4Cyl is almost completely stock, and tops out around 80MPH on the highway, and is 0-60 in about 15-20 seconds.

The 22RE 4Cyl with an automatic transmission is about as underpowered as you can get for these. Most people agree that the 22RE with a manual transmission is acceptable, but don't expect any of these to be speedy, or strong when towing.

Actually his 86 would fall into the 112 HP category but for some reason I remember the number to be 114. Anyway, after so many miles, you are probably going to be doing good to be getting 90 out of it.

a 305 small block chevy has 130 hp so 105 for a 4 cylinder isnt too shabby. [/B][/QUOTE]
