Someone backed up into my new black 4runner..need help with buffing the damage out!

Ok...some idiot backed up into the side of my rear bumper at work and TOOK OFF! So....there seems to be a bit of paint and scratches on my bumper. I'm going to wash the car tomorrow and try to buff most of the damage out. What would you guys use? I was going to use a rotary buffer....maybe some rubbing compound first....then some liquid wax after? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Pics would be helpful in assessing the repairability of the damage. Do you already have a rotary? If the scratches are through the clear coat then no, even a rotary with compound wont be able to help.

If it is just paint transfer, then possibly a hand polish would remove it if you dont already have a rotary or DA buffer. If it is up to 1500 grit equivalent or finer scratches that are not through the clear coat then polishing compounds on a buffer will remove them with ease.

I think some of it is through the clear....but a lot of it is just bits of paint. I take pictures later tonight and post them. I'm going to wash my car tomorrow and start to buff it out by hand first. Then I'll try the buffer if it doesn't come out. But I doubt I will be able to get everything.
