Someone made a cool "Trail" emblem

if your going to pay to have it printed why wouldnt you just have it laser cut. Then you have just plain old perfection out of the metal of your choice. Personally i like it without the emblem. Although I would have to say it does look nice. I have some things that have been 3d printed its a really cool process and you can get just about anything you want as long as you can model it in a program.

I assume laser cutting would still require some sort of cleanup/finishing process.

Apart from a 3d print the best you are going to get is a 5-axis waterjet. Still going to be way more expensive. I think you would have a hard time beating the $65 price point for stainless steel. Regardless of "perfection"

You make the hardest part sound so easy Across all of the iterations I probably put a good 15 to 20 hours into modelling it. It is not a complex model by any means. I have built 100 fold more complex than this. This had to match proper style and sizing of similar other badging, and thankfully I had some design help.

Will do, considering painting the R with red enamel, and then giving it a smoked look. Hope it turns out because these things are damn expensive!

I just got mine from Shapeways today. I was so excited when I saw the box. Can you imagine my disappointment when I opened the box and only found 1 Trail emblem? I was heartbroken. Where was the 2nd emblem? I paid for 2. One for each side. Is it coming later, in another box? Doubt it. I sent them an e-mail and pictures to let them know that I was missing 1 emblem. Waiting to hear back from them. I hope it comes soon.

I received mine yesterday. I only ordered one as I was just going to put it on the gate but I put a small piece of two sided tape and tried it on the side and the gate to see. Now I'm not sure if I want another one to put one on each side or just use the one I have for the gate.

I'm not sure I understand the appeal of having a Trail emblem. The hood scoop indicates either it's a TE or a TRD (it's absent on the SR5), which is just subtle enough for those of us 'in the know' to appreciate the differences.

I will try to help you understand maybe something else. Some people like stickers, others like badges, some like lights bells n whistles, others like racks, more like wheels, lots love tires, bunches dig suspension, winches, and armor... there are even those that like bull bars and some like a plain o stock 4Runner. Most in the know appreciate what some else does or doesn't do with their very own buggy. So it may be lost on you, it really doesn't matter as you will never understand why someone likes something as you are not them, unless of course you ask
