Someone to talk to?

Im just wondering if anyone knows of a chat site or phone line for someone to talk to. I have done a few quick searches but I havent really found anything that has helped right now. I am having a really rough time right now and I feel like im on the brink of a major break down. I know I shouldnt be feeling this way and I am honestly trying to fight through and stay tough but I dont know how much longer I can keep going. I keep trying to tell myself that it will all be ok but how can you keep saying something and fighting for it if you dont believe it. I am so close to just packing up my truck, dropping everything and just heading to the mountains to disappear.

You should absolutely do this, and I'm not kidding. Throw a bunch of canned and freezedried food in a box, tell somebody where you're going and when you expect to be back, and go disappear for a week. I do this every couple of years and it's a great way to hit the reset button.

If that's not possible/not wise, does your employer offer an Employee Assistance Program? Most do, these days, and they generally offer referrals to the appropriate specialist and free sessions so you can talk it out.

Are you religious at all? Priests/Bishops/etc make great sounding boards, and frequently can put you in touch with other folks that can help too. If you're willing to be preached at, a quick scan on Google revealed a plethora of 800 numbers sponsored by one church or another...

If all else fails, call your local family clinic. They should have a list of numbers for health providers in your area that would be willing to help for no or little money.

Good luck. You're a good guy, and I hope you get this thing under control.

Right now, I dont even want to tell anyone where i would be going. I know its the smart thing to do but I just want to vanish from everyone. I have gone through some lows before but this one really has me crashing hard and its weighing on me alot and I know deep down that its pointless to feel this way and I dont need to let it tear me up but it seems like the more I fight not to let it, the harder it comes back on me.

Brother, I was having some serious low days myself a few weeks ago, so I can relate. It was brought to my attention that with the long cold winter we have had (it just snowed here 11 days ago) that people can get whats called seasonal depression. It's a bit like cabin fever, but it is a much heavier load. For me (and i suspect you) it makes you feel covered up, and every little thing feel so much bigger than you.

I wish I could say there was a cure, but in reality I still feel it, but knowing what it is and spending more time outside and tinkering on projects has helped me tremendously.

If you want to cut out and hide for a while, and don't want to tell anyone where you are going, perhaps you can write where you are going, seal it inside an envelope and give it to a friend (you trust) to hold, with instruction to only open it if he/she has not heard from you in 2 weeks.

I am not an expert, and my advise may suck (from a professional standpoint) but I care and also understand what you are dealing with.

its easy to stay in harbor, but a ship is meant to handle rough seas.
The same goes for life, you'll develop more as a person forging through the tough times and focusing on what makes you who you are.

Best of luck.

I'm surprised this didn't come up when you searched:

I kind of made the thread to just sort of vent a bit about my own struggles in life, but it was really meant for everyone suffering with mental issues.

I'm having a tough time in my life as well, life seems to be failing me left and right unfortunately; but I always seem to be able to help others out better than I can get my own life to work out.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you need to chat, I can relate with how sometimes its just not worth waking up anymore. :(

You both are worth everyday that you wake and breathe. There are so many good people out there that are willing to just listen. Even a pure stranger, or one that hasn't experienced the degree you have, just know that there are people that will help you get up and get out of this darkness you're facing :grouphug:

Hang in there djskorch life's not nearly as bad as you think. I've battled depression for years, but life is beautiful and is worth living. Sometimes you just have to remove negative people or situations from your life and move on. Keep your head up, feel free to vent further in here or PM any of us if you need to talk.

Hey just thought i'd give alittle bit of information of whats help me with past problems of feeling down. . Seriously try changing the music you listen to, for me it was reggae that help, I-waynes lyrics have made my life much more positive. It took some listening to under stand and even after years of listening I hear new lyrics daily, give it a chance. Remember everthing happens for a reason, I once was told " If he put you to it, he'll get you through it." Stay strong my friend.

Stay strong my friend, being able to ask for help has shown that you are a fighter and will pull out of this slump with shining colors. The hardest part is over, being able to ask for help is the first step on the path to recovery. I don't know your religious status, but I hope you don't mind that you are in my prayers.

It may sound corny, but please smile, make a conscious effort. I know it's hard, but it does help!

Take care friend, I live in Portland, OR. Let me know if I can do anything for you, PM me if you need my help.

Ups and downs man. Got some problems with the runner now that are just more to add to the plate but im just pushing on. It is what it is. Thanks for asking though.

Keep pushing through dude, on to the next thing that will keep you going, whether that's that trip to the woods for solitude or whatever. Hopefully you've found an outlet or 2 that works for you from the suggestions from others.

And if you don't have a relationship w/ God yet, that's a gamechanger. Feel free to ask, no pressure.
