here in costa rica the market goes like this

new 2020
4runner - 68,000$
fj - 59,000$
prado - 63,000$

and yet look like prado and fj seem to hold their value more than 4 runners
(for me its good because i could buy 2006 4 runner cheeper than 2004 prado for example)

can any one please explain me what causing that ?
that 4runner selling for cheaper than then other cars

It's not a hard science, but more of a perception. The perceived value of one is greater than the other so it costs more.

1-2 yr old 4Runner in Nor Cali Bay area is about $1K USD less than new, because people will buy it. Logic doesn't make sense to me but people do it.

Go to Texas and it's like $3-4K less.

Supply and demand.

Yup, supply and demand, for sure. I have also noticed quite a significant difference in pricing depending on area/region.

Definitely supply and demand/popularity based on the particular region. When I was shopping for my 4runner, it made sense for me to drive about 600miles away to save a few grand.

Somewhat of the opposite here in the USA.

New 4Runner ~ $38k
New GX460 (Prado) ~$60k.

5 year old 4Runner ~ $30k
5 year old GX460 ~ $30k

I’ve been to Costa Rica a couple times and have gone from Alajuela to Monte Verde and don’t think I’ve seen even one 4Runner and maybe one FJ? There were a lot of Hilux and Prado’s, including my wife’s cousins that was very nice.
