Something fishy going on wit dealer service

Last year I had the dealer change my thermostat to a 170 stant that I provided. Recently having some unusual temp fluctuations and decided to push through with a TB/WP service since it was due anyhow. I provided the dealer with a Aircabinman premium kit that had all new parts. I asked the dealer to save the old parts and to my pleasure they did, everything including the thermostat I had them change back in August. The thing that's got be stumped is this is the thermostat they pulled out. I don't know what kind of thermostat this is or what temp...there no jiggle valve either. The one you can see that says 82 is the OEM one came in my kit I didn't give them. I gave them a new 170 stant. The other doesn't look at all like the 170stant I gave them yesterday that I would have expected to see in my box of used parts..I now wonder if they ever changed it. I put one in 2 years ago when I bought the truck on road trip home. I got the truck back yesterday and drive it home pop the hood and have a look. My overflow res is empty and dry coolant all over my fan shroud. I don't understand some people.

Ideas on the lack of jiggle valve..so as far as I can tell I've been running with this thermostat for 2 years.

The top tstat is what you get from an auto parts store.... I just went through this about the difference between OEM and store bought tstats.... I've had higher temps since I bought my truck. Changed to OEM and all is good (that's the short version...).
