Something strange on my new born 4R

Maybe I am a bit sensitive... I hope some knowledgable people can help me out. I have 2 little concerns.

I got my 2005 4Runner V8 Limited just 3 days ago...

It has only 200km now... My experience within these 200km, I feel that my car has a very little engine vibration with "D" shift. However, it is normal, strong and quite with "4" shift. With the "D" shift, I feel the vibration even from startup, and at high speed. I wonder, would that be the RPM too low so make the vibration? Because it's running at 1500rpm @80~90 km/h

Second issue is about brake. The braking is very good. However, I feel some tiny "click" when I stepped on the pedal. It didn't happened all the time. Sometimes you feel it at the time you step on, sometimes you feel it during the braking, and sometimes it happened almost you step down and the car almost fully stopped. The feeling is kinda similar to the ABS function, but not as obvious.

I understand, maybe these are not the problem at all... I probably be thinking too much... and too sensitive...

Would this related to the "run-in" period? Because of the brand new engine and brand new brake pad... etc.

However, I never have this kinda experience with my previous 2001 Toyota Camry.... Please help~

Brake pedal pulse

I don't have any help for the V8 vibration you mention, but the pedal "click" or pulse you feel is normal.

The brake pedal will pulse occasionally, this is part of the ABS and TRAC system. I can sometimes hear mine, usually when I am backingou tof the garage in the morning, but several times during a trip around town , I may feel the pedal pulse. I am not sure if it's a motor in the master cyclinder or even if it's normal operation, I just drive it because it's such a small thing.

I don't know what vibration you are feeling.

The shifting and sequence of 'gears' is the same from 1-2-3-4 weather you are in 4 or D.

D just allows the trans to shift one more time into Overdrive.

I feel strange because even in low speed, like 5~10km, I could occasionally feel that "click"... it is not a strong feeling, but definitely never have this experience with my previous Camry and Sienna.

Also I want do a poll to see how many ppl has the same experience... if quite a number, then it should be normal... i guess.

Thanks! KMX3060... I am so delighted to be a T4R owner...

It's not a serious vibration. It's the feeling of lack of power. For example, if I used the "D" shift to startup from a full stop, the engine gave me a feedback of "lack of power", while comparing with "4" shift to startup, I feel the pickup is much better.

Note: that "lack of power" feeling is kinda very little vibration from the engine and this vibration transfer from the engine to the pedal. It is not that obvious but I definitely feel it... hope I am not too sensitive...

Ive had my new 05 for a bit over a week with about 600 miles on it. I have noticed the same brake vibration that you wrote about. First off I noticed the brakes are very sensitive but I assumed this was because of brand new pads etc. Its nice to hear someone else has the same issue. My previous car with ABS never had this issue while trying to stop. I remember hearing the clicking noise but usually not while I was moving. Im not too worried about it, im still able to stop without a problem.

Exactly... it has no problem to stop (still fast and powerful), just you feel that "clicl" from the pedal. I am not worrying about much either, but again, I don't have this experience with my previous car in new.

I believe the brake pulse you are describing was discussed previously and we surmised that it was the brake booster rebuilding the pressure or something to that nature. Do a search and I'm sure you'll come up with it.

Sorry I am a newie of the 4R and this forum... I know the search button, but sometimes don't know where to start to search...

And yea I found out that lots of ppl has the same issues....
