something that helped surging at idle --

I've recently had an intermittent problem with my 3.0 surging at idle. This usually occurred just as the engine temp was coming up to normal and the ECM was going into closed loop. I found what I 'thot' was a loose spark plug wire. I was checking fluids, etc., with the engine running. So I cut the engine off and waited for it to cool some. Then pushed hard on #4 plug boot and called it 'good'.
Next morning, I had the usual surging during warm-up. On a hunch, I checked the wire again. Was still shaking at idle, like it was loose again. I determined that the plug, itself was loose. Tightened it up. Reinstalled the plug wire and no more surge.

Amazing how the smallest things affect computer controlled engines. Additionally, I couldn't hear any tell-tale whooshing sounds, like compression escaping. Maybe the fuel mileage will improve some, too. It's been pretty lousy, lately.
