something weird happens when i put the car in reverse

hi everyone, i am new to this forum but not new to forums in general. my father in law has an 03 4 runner sport and something weird has been happening ever since he got a new battery for his truck. normally when he puts the car in reverse, the doors lock and all is good. now for some reason when he puts the car in reverse the locks have a hard time locking the first time and it makes a crazy noise of it trying to lock over and over again. and also even with the doors unlocked you cant open the back doors from the outside, only from the side. has anyone ever experienced this? thanks!

Sounds like you need to reprogram the locks. When you disconnect the battery somethimes this happens. Check the owners manual. It has the procedure to reprogram. I had to do mine once.
