I think you may be taking me the wrong way. I'm not trying to argue or say that SOPA isn't a big deal. I agree with 99% of what you said here. Presidents should absolutely be help responsible for their actions.
However. As far as I know Obama hasn't signed anything regarding sopa, nor has it even come across his desk. So far it has only been in the hands of congress. Am I wrong in saying this? This is why I am confused as to why Obama was even brought up.
Also, I believe the bill was written by Lamar Smith, a Rep. from Texas.
Again no hard feelings, and I'm not an Obamabot. Just trying to get some clarification :cheers:

Sorry if i come off strong on this issue. you sound like a nice guy and i don't mean any offense.
I feel like i have to come off strong to make up for this administration's overwhelming passivity and general willingness to compromise on nearly every issue that comes before it.
It is true that O8ama has not signed it yet but he did sign the NDAA and multiple other terrible bills. I often hear supports say "but the other side is so bad" to me that is worthless. A leader is responsible for the bills he signs. I believe he does support it (secretly) or supports compromising in some way.
It is ironic that two bipartisan bills (NDAA & SOPA) actually screw over the people and shred the constitution worse than any active laws to date. We can see how well bipartisanship works.
I just want an honest candidate who actually stands for something and represents MY interests.
Obama was brought up because some people believe he will stop it or have said as much. The bill in the Senate was sponsored by a Democat Patrick L. and is supported by Harry Reid, another Democrat. The whole thing is a bipartisan way to please special interests (MPAA & RIAA) and censor the internet.

As I look at it, the days of the honest candidate, who stands up for the people who provide the backbone of the America dream, has all but disappeared sadly to say. If there are any candidates who are elected and make it to Congress, I am sure they receive an express learning course in crony capitalism their first week in office.

I'm actually sorry I mentioned BHO. When I said it, it was in the context of.. if it happens under his admin, then it's he who is to blame (like Brian was also saying). Anyhoo, I don't think SOPA/PIPA will pass, although I do believe Pippa is a hottie. 
I agree with Brian that there will probably be some compromise down the road. My fear is that when they really want something to pass through Congress, they just bury it deep inside some other bill that has nothing to do with it, way back in Section T, page 7469, Subsection 17G, article B or something. And the only people that will know it's there before it passes are a few tricky d*cks and big biz. That stuff happens too much (although I would hope a censorship of the internet law would be too big to just slip in there un-noticed).

This is spot on. Money talks and the numbers prove it. How can any of our representatives be in touch with the needs and wants of Americans when they themselves are millionaires?
