Sorry to beat a dead topic, led interior question

I have finally gotten all the bulbs replaced, and finally done. here is a comprehensive list of bulbs needed to change the lighting to led's on a 01-02 4runner

cluster, gauges: #24 x 3
key ring, glove box, ash tray, shifter: #74 x 4
climate control (non digital): 4mm neo wedge x 3
etc power, rear defrost, rear window: 3mm neo wedge x 2

every bulb behind the dash, around the cluster (turn signals, seat belt, check engine, cruise control, etc.: #74 bulbs

all bulbs were obtained from v-leds, and neo wedges from superbrightleds. or you can get the T3 and T4 bulbs from v-leds and they should work the same

word to the wise, if you can, purchase the bulbs that have the plastic cylinder on top so you can sand down the plastic to diffuse the light so you dont get hot spots.

I think they are 24s. I have an 01 but haven't ordered mine yet. Can you post what you ordered and we can compare the list I have?

I think:

8 - 74s
3 - 24s
2 - neowedge Type A (3mm)
2 - neowedge Type B (4mm)

I am not 100% sure on this...maybe 2 heads will be better than 1 on this.

when you get the list let me know since i'm an '01 who wants to do the same. and does anyone gear shift with a led 74 really lose?

Here is my list for my '99. I cannot confirm if the bulbs will be the same for any later years past '99.

Interior LED Conversion

#74 Bulbs
-Key Ring (1)
-Climate Control (2)
-Ashtray (1)
-Glovebox (1)
-Blinkers (2)
Total: 7

#194 Bulbs
-Shifter (1) still need
Total: 1

#24 Bulbs

-Instrument Cluster (3)
Total: 3

Neo-Wedge Type A (8mm)
-Rear Window (1)
-ECT/Rear Defroster (1)
-A/C Button (1)
Total: 3

That seems close to what I had researched for my 01...I put 8 probably b/c I wanted to overestimate when I ordered just in case.

Does anyone know what the cheapest/best LEDs are? VLED seems a little pricey and their website is horrible imo...I don't even know what some of the listings are for.

Also, Where can I find the 8mm neos?

i got

4 194's which are the ones im worried about for the gauges
8 74's

and i havent gotten the neo wedges yet, but i did get led side markers and backup lights. still waiting for a few parts to come back in stock before i do the exterior turn signal bulbs

plus no where on sylvania's replacement guide does it say to use 24's for the instrument clusterhttp://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm

I read somewhere that they use 24s in the instrument cluster....if you find out otherwise, please post here.

This guy has an '02 and he used 24s...seems like the 02s and 01s would be the same.

dammit...... that means i need to order more now.

and where are you getting the neo wedges? link please?

i ordered my stuff off of vleds because ive used their stuff before and it always turns out great

Mine uses the 24s as well. I took mine out because I didn't like the hot spots, otherwise the look was exactly what I wanted. If you have a '00, '01, or '02 then PM me and I will send you the 3 white LED 24s I have. All I need from anyone interested is to pay shipping and post pics after install :reddance:

You haveth a PM sir. :D

The hot spots can be cured by some of the 3 way LEDs so I have read anyways.

you can get the neo wedges off of autolumination's site.

Can you let me know which ones you get?

don't use autolumination. their stuff is very cheap. i had 3 different sets of leds from them and most of them died within 3 months. i've had V-Leds stuff for 6 months now with no problems

Also for those that have already put them in...did you have to order the Twist Lock Bases too?

original bases are fine

sylvania is wrong. #24 is the correct bulb. V-Leds and superbrightleds.com are the places i would recommend

:guitar2:

where are you guys getting these lists of bulbs and what bulbs you need??

I have a 96 and was interested in doing this, but dont even know where to start.

you just pull the dash apart and replace all the bulbs with LED??

so your list would just be the complete list of bulbs inside your Runner?

where would the conversion charts be??

thanks,

I have just been researching here and on Yotatech and putting list after list together. It would be great if each person with a certain year would post their master list...that way these threads would be definitive answers. I will post my list once I order everything and make sure everything is as it should be...might be a few weeks though.

i never replaces the neowedges but i know it is a type A. however, superbrightleds doesn't call it a type A. autolumination says the type A is a 8mm (base). i'm pretty sure that the NEO3-x is the correct one since it has the same size base.

Agreed. You can find my '99 list on the first page.

so i got most of my bulbs... and to say the least... not very happy.

74's are too small for the cig lighter ring, and the style of bulb i got is to long to fit, even with sanding

got some hot spots with the shifter selector, broke a bulb while trying to take it out, and almost broke my clear corner side markers because they refused to pop out......

it was a long day, but now i have to order round 2 of bulbs. so can someone please link me to the neo wedges they used for the climate controls, and the 24's they use and got the least amount of hot spots for the gauges. thanks
