SOS! the moonroof stuck open

When I opened the moonroof today i heard some cracking sound. I then tried to close it, it is stuck!

today is Sunday! close everywhere. how show I do? the weather forecast shows rain tonight and i don't have a place to park my car.

any suggestion?

After searching the forum, I am pretty sure it is the notorious moonroof bug.

I guess I have to get some cover to shield rain.

this will be my first time to use the warranty. i am wondering how long will this take? and if it cannot be done in two hours, will dealer provide me a car for transportation?

Check the fuse and read the "normalization" instructions in the owners manual. If that doesn't do it make sure you use a broom handle or something and make a tepee out of your taped on plastic bag. From years with boat covers I can tell you if you don't make a tepee you'll be sorry!

My dealer can't do anything in less than 2 hours.

The dealer can rent you a car (at your cost) for part of a day, or they may offer to give you a ride somewhere (like to work and back) if it's close to the dealer. I'm not sure that the warranty specifically includes a loaner car, but I believe it's customary for the dealer to give you a loaner car if they need to keep yours overnight. Even with Lexus, they don't necessarily offer a loaner for free unless it will be an overnight job.

went to continental toyota at countryside today at 7:00am. wait 4 hours. they cannot figure out if it is covered by the warranty.

has to rent a car to get home then work. will go back to the dealer place later today.

if it is covered by warranty, the dealer will offer a car without charge. it is the cost of toyota.

haha how true it is!!!

on a side note, if you make buddies with a service manager you get hooked up with "freebies" like free check ups and loaners when not only are you out of warranty, but you have 140k on your 2002... i do in fact get a loaner as part of the toyoguard package on my 07. check it out though
