sound come from underneath

took the wife grocery shopping yesterday, when we got home and unloading grocery I went inside first. The wife then came in and said she hearing some noise coming from the car. I thought she must be playing with me, this is an T4R not an Ford explorer. I came out and see what she talking about, to my unbelieveable suprise there is noise coming from underneath on the back of the car. couldn't locate the exact spot where the noise coming from but i feel the sound coming from around the area of the gas tank. i stood there an wait for about 10minutes but the sound would not stop, so i start my car back up and then killed the motor and the sound stop. I waited and waited there no more sound. I would go back out to check off and on there no more sound. I try to duplicate the problem so i can take the car to Toyota to look at but the problem not coming back, what should i do people? does anyone here have this same problem i have?

Did it sound like a fan or small motor?

That is part of the emission system. Totally normal. It's even in the manual. There are a number of posts on here already about it.

I've gone out hours after driving and have heard it as well.

yep that would be correct but would that sound annoying that long period of time?
