Sound System Upgrade

I have an 03 Limited with the factory upgrade JBL 12 speaker system. I previously replaced the factory radio with a higher end Alpine head unit with Ipod interface.

The sound was ok, but missing a lot. Yesterday I added a new Alpine 10" sub and a Kenwood 1000watt Amp and I'm very happy now.

It cranks for virtually any type of music and the cost wasn't bad at all.

I don't plan on changing the 12 speakers any time soon as this would run big bucks.

Just to let you guys know, the sub and amp make a world of difference.

12 speakers? Count again. 4 in the front doors, 2 in the rear doors, 2 in the rear pillars, 1 in the center of the dash, and one subwoofer = 10. You're probably not running the factory subwoofer off the Alpine head unit. Alpines usually only have 4 channels, how did you get it to run all the speakers, like the center one?

well i think thats what the harness is for... but i could be wrong

do the steering wheel controls still work w. the HU?

Thanks for the correction. The factory advertises 12 speakers, but I only can find 10 myself.

The new amp powers the 10" Alpine sub only, not the speakers. As for steering wheel controls, when I had the head unit installed I bought an extra $80 cable that allowed them to be functional.

I tweaked the system today and it sounds awesome.
