When doing a u-turn or somewhat tight turn and u hit a dip or a bump something makes a...not a squeak but a ... squirk? lol a loud rough grind/squeak? lol

I had a headgasket repaired a few years ago at a Toyota dealer. While it was in they said my '95 had a recall on it to fix something in the front axle. I forget what exactly. Anyway, before the "fix" I had no noise whatsoever. After the "fix" it makes that awful grinding noise everytime I turn the wheel full throw in either direction. I called the dealership back up, but they pretty much told me that there's nothing they can do.

I'm used to it now, but I hate the noise and usually sacrifice turning radius to stop it from happening.

Everyone I know that owns or has owned a toyota truck/suv has the "Yota Screech". I read somewhere on the net that the front "turn stops" rub at full turn and make the noise. I looked at mine and they are scratched up looking. Makes sense.

A dab of grease on the steering stops solves the problem. You will have to do this occasionally but it is a simple thing to do. The plastic cover wears away and it's the metal on metal that makes the loud screeching sound.
