Hi all,

I think my wife and I are going to head up to see Mt. Rushmore and check out Badlands NP for 4th of July weekend.

Curious if anyone has any recommendations for any "must see" items around that area?

Thanks in advance! :bigok:

Well, with your current plans; Once at the Badlands NP, head south down to Pine Ridge and check out the Wounded Knee memorial. Pine Ridge will be an eye-opening experience.

In the Black hills, Custer State Park is a must up the needles highway to Sylvan lake and out to the Crazy Horse monument.

Deadwood is another nice stay over and the Spearfish canyon area is really nice as well.

Lots of other off the beaten path off road tracks as well, pick up a topo of the Black Hills if that is something that interests...

*Sheep Table Mtn Road in the So. Section of Badlands NP
*Be sure to walk the boardwalk trail right up under Washington
*Jewel Cave has the best cave tours
*Drive the dirt road around Custer SP & Wind Cave NP to find Bison herds
*Geroge C. Mickelson Trail is one of the best biking trails in the country

Iron mountain road.
Needles highway.
Jewel cave.
Crazy horse museum. The monument is awesome, but the museum should not be missed.

Get yourself a Motor Vehicle Usage Map, either paper or off the NFS website. Then head to the north end of the Black Hills and hit the trails off of the Camp 5 trailhead.
Here's a little something we produced. If you visit our YouTube channel you'll find part2 of this and a video showing the Sheep Mountain Table Trail in Badlands.
Have fun! We plan on making a trip to the area in October, one of our favs.
