South Salt Lake-Utah valley university. good place to be?

I was looking at college's and im really liking the looks of this one. they have a good automotive program which is what i would be taking. i was wondering if there is anyone in this area and could vouch for the school?

I'm at UVU doing pre-PA courses. Great location and beautiful scenery. Plenty to do if you like the outdoors. The university is open enrollment so you'll get in. Any other questions?

how expensive is it over there? compared to cali im sure its better but just wondering. is there a lot of good offroading spots?:bluejump:

There's about a $4000 difference between in state and out of state tuition. My total for 12 credits, in state was about $2500 plus the raping you can expect for textbooks.
There are plenty of good spots for off roading, and Moab is a short drive away.
One thing to be aware of is it will be a big culture shock coming from California, especially if you aren't LDS.

I graduated from the UVU auto program a few years ago. It's a good place, the teachers are pretty knowledgeable. And there are several good wheeling places.

There's a real decent quality of life in Salt Lake City. The winter sports are excellent of course, but there's awesome hiking, fishing, and mountain biking just minutes from the valley floor too. There will be some culture shock - the LDS presence makes for laws and customs that you'll find interesting, but you'll be able to take it in stride if you have an open mind. UVU has an excellent reputation, but there's a lot of other excellent schools as well.

American Fork Canyon has some good wheeling, there's more local trails at the Five Mile Pass area, and there's class-d roads to be explored all OVER the west desert and Uintah mountain region. And of course there's southern Utah - the areas around Moab and Saint George are chock full of more technical wheeling than you can handle.

Anybody mind if I take this opportunity to pimp our local club? We're trying to grow a proper 4Runner club in northern Utah, check the link in my sig!

I'm sure this has a lot to do with the fact that I just bought my truck, but I've been noticing a lot of 3rd gens on campus so you'd fit right in.
