Spacer and level question!

Hello all I am new here did a search and found some stuff but nothing specifically answering what i want to ask. So as i said i am new here. I have an 06 SR5 2WD. I have been noticing the same thing that most of you have been talking about, the ugly rake and tucked in tires. I have seen you guys talk about different wheel spacers and level kits.

My T4R is bone stock and i am not planning on lifting the rear however i do want to level the front. What is better the Daystar kit or the Cornfed kit? Also what size is best to level it. 1" or 2.5"?

And the wheel spacers well there are many to choose from but i am seeing most of you go with spidertrax but my question is what size do i go with (stock 16 inch wheels and tires) i see alot of 1.25 and 1.5 inch spacers being used?

in your guys own opinion what is the best bang for the buck?

Well there are many options you can go with. You can go with Daystar, Cornfed or Toytec. I guess it all depends on your preference. I did the FJ Cruiser suspension upgrade that give you some lift and also a Toytec spacer for mine.

As far as the spacers I am not too familiar with them but I believe the most popular are the Spidertrax.
 
If it were me, I'd go cornfed for the front spacer. And 1.25" for the spidertrax. They'll all do the same thing though. I don't know what is the best size for the level though, so you'll have to wait for someone who has done it (I did the 3/2 on my '06 2WD).
 
Leveling is a bit subjective. Most who have done seem to come to the conclusion that using the rocker panel or running board as reference works best or it ends up looking nose-high.

The short story is: If you leave the stock 4Runner springs these spacers are what you want: Front Top Plate Spacer Kit - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

If you choose to seek out some 4wd FJC springs (as many do) then this is becoming the most popular choice: Front Top Plate Spacer (One - 1/4") - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits



Both of those will leave a bit of rake overall and provide near dead-level running boards. The thing to keep in mind is that overall shape of the T4R has a bit of a wedge to it and that's how, even with dead level rocker panels/running boards, it'll still appear to have some rake. My recommendations are based on no rear-end lift. Good Luck!:D

:iagree:True and a great suggestion. You'd have to do all 4 shocks at once though. Your SE has XREAS. Truth is that the XREAS is probably getting tired and that might be the best choice...
 
you only need a 3/4" spacer to level out the front? it seems like its a bigger difference than that to me. im also interested in leveling the front. i was thinking of getting a 1" or the 2.5" but im not sure which one would level it out. also if 2.5" would be stressing my UCAs
 
lift attained is twice that of spacer thickness, so 3/4 in. thick spacer gives 1.5 in. lift, & so on. but anything higher than a front only lift of 1.5 may put u nose high unless u lft the rear also, thats a spacer thickness = same in lift thing. u could go higher with a front only lift if u take off the running boards thats what makes it look nose high to some.

I say 1.5" would be plenty to level it out. That Toytec spacer listed at 3/4" is actually 1/2" thick and yeilds 1" lift. I have that spacer and FJ springs which gave me 1.5" total lift. I would highly advise using one of the Toytec spacers and FJ springs all around. The FJ springs give a little lift and smoothen out the ride. See the link in my sig for my lift write up with pics of my setup. Do you have a v6 or v8? If v6, do FJ springs and 1/4" spacer, if v8 do FJ springs and 1/2" spacer.

As for wheel spacers, spidertraxx or all pro hub centric spacers are the most common.
 
thanks for all the feed back. a lot of information has since been processed and researched. definitely going with the spidertrax wheel spacers. and as for the leveling/lift spacers. going to go with the cornfed spacers.


i looked at the toytec but will hold off on those until later if i decide to go with the fj springs.

I will post pictures when completed.

It should pay off. I bought my FJC shocks and springs for $30 and I have $60 invested in my Toytec Spacer. So for $100 I have a lift. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. Alot of guys go with the full suspension that runs $600+ but you can also do a cheap lift going with the FJC shocks and springs and a spacer for $100-$300 just depending on what you go with.

Toyota FJ Cruiser Community. Most of them will run between $50-$100. If one person is higher than the other then try to separate the thread and say you are looking for the springs and then another thread for the shocks and it might be a little cheaper. I got lucky by finding a guy here in Nashville that has a Rough Country lift and the stock FJC suspension was sitting in his garage and he wanted to get rid of it. He gave them to me but I gave him $30 for driving home to Chattanooga to get them.
 
There is also a "free" forum just under the "paid" for sale forums, I would try asking for a free, lower mileage set, first. It might take a little longer, but there are lots of members who will give them to you for the price of shipping just to clear some garage space. I don't want to say it's guaranteed, but it's definitely worth a shot.
