Spacer and lift help

Hello all,

This is my first post on this forum so bare with me and my ignorant knowledge of 4runners.

So I was recently passed down from my mother, A very nice Limited 4.7L V8 4 runner. This puppy has 135,000 miles on it(we bought it with 45,000). She still runs like the day we got her.

Firstly, I was going to just tint the windows and get new head lights.

But, I have been looking at all the pictures ya'll have posted and I really dig the "lift" look. We used to take ours across trails for camping areas and stuff (nothing to big). I have been reading about spacers and coils and what not, but I have no idea where to go from here.

Do spacers push the tires out as well as lift it?

What would be the best brand/size for my rig? I want to go as high as possible with the stock wheels.

If your wanting a wider profile I would look into the Spidertax 1.25" wheel spacers. I also put on the Daystar 2.5F/ 1.5R for a lift which was the cheapest way out the door that I found. If you wanting to go a little larger then I would look at getting some FJ springs while you have everything apart.
 
There are two different spacers. Wheel spacers are made to push the wheels out for a wider stance. A spacer lift is made to give suspension lift. Stock wheels have no effect on the spacer lifts, so you can go as big as you want. The biggest spacer kit you'll see is 3/2 (that's 3" in the front, 2" in the rear), that's about as big as you can go on these rigs without other issues. Look into the Daystar 2.5/1.5, it's probably the best kit on a low budget. If you don't want that much lift, there are other options.

Spacer lifts are looked down upon by the hardcore off roaders, but for light wheeling they actually do pretty well. You could go with something else, but a simple spacer lift would probably be sufficient.

The only other option is with 135k miles, it may be time for new shocks. If so, get a set of Bilstein 5100's (fronts are adjustable for 2.5" of lift) and a spacer for the rear. This is a very nice setup as well, just depends on if you want new shocks or not.

You will need to find out if you have XREAS, because that changes things some. Look at the shocks (front's easiest to see it on) and see if there's a hydraulic line attached to the shock. If it is, you have the XREAS system).
 
If your on a tight budget, go with a spacer lift kit: either a Daystar 2.5/1.5 or a Cornfed 3/2 or a Toytec 3/1.5 combined with either spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers or All pro 1.5" wheel spacers. Any combination of the two will look better, fit bigger tires, and handle a bit better. You will notice a slight drop in mpg and power from that V8 but many find it worth every bit. Good luck!

Also, How can you put the Daystar 2.5/1.5 and the spidertrax on? How does that work?

Daystar goes on top of the shock/strut assembly, wheel spacers go on the hub between it and the wheel. They are two completely different parts. 4wheelparts, Wheelers Off Road, and Amazon are good places for the Daystar kit.

The shocks are linked front left to right rear and front right to left rear. It's a hydrualic system that improves ride and handling. Many installers aren't familiar with the system, so if you have it you may have difficulty finding a shop to install.
 
Wheels make no difference at all for what your looking at, only thing affected is tire size you can run. Depending on tire size wheel spacers may cause rubbing.
