Hi everyone, I read the fantastic lift sticky which answered lots of my questions. I do have one question based on what was said on the sticky regarding spacer lifts. They were described as only good for aesthetics and not recommended for off road. Why is that? Would they fail offroad? Would they prevent the suspension from flexing enough under off road conditions? I am a newbie here and am debating doing a small lift for a little extra ground clearance when I replace my worn out shocks. Thank you very much!

I believe the reason they advise against it, is that it is stiffer and doesn't flex enough.......
I know my ride got really stiff when I did my spacer lift, now got some stuff together to do a Tundra TRD setup in the front. Should perform alot better than the spacers I bought, and the cost is pretty low if you buy local and can get some gently used stuff......

If you can find it....ive had a wanted ad on tundrasolutions and tundratalk for a while now with no luck on the yy/yb springs

Take a look on E-bay.....got mine from North Dakota from an Auto Recycler called Nordstrom's Automotive Inc.
Mine came off of a Tundra 4x4 TRD Access Cab, should be the same if it's a Regular cab, Access Cab, or Quad Cab. Just make sure that it's a TRD 4x4 model.

There are two types of spacers for the fronts. Some go in between the coils and the top plate, the others go on top of the plate (these are also called "top out" spacers.
A short coil (stock) will compress less than a taller coil (lift coil).
A stock coil with an internal spacer Front 2.5" lift Spacers - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits will not compress much. Other than limited travel the internals aren't bad.
The top out spacers allow excessive wheel droop. This can overextend the CV axles which can lead to breakage. The axles can actually pull apart from over extension. I would not wheel with large top out spacers (small ones usually don't cause problems) Front Top Plate Spacer Kit - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

Ive ran into a double cab 4x4 that had different color combo. I think I have some springs lined up from a forum member, just trying to find some red billys for shocks.
For the OP, if you plan to off road, id save up and try to find some inexpensive struts for the front
