Spacer Lift

I know some of you 3rd gen guys have spacer lifts on your junk. Im also considering doing it, I guess about an inch or two. My question is, how does this affect the ride quality and what does it do to your allignment? Any more pros or cons? Thanks!!

Hey, I'm ordering mine this week...they say that it will just make the ride a LITTLE stiffer, but not a big difference, except when you hit speed bumps, etc.

You WILL HAVE to get an alignment ANY time you put any lift on a vehicle...

Hope that helps!

Hey man, let me know how that goes. Prior to buying my 4Runner I was riding around in a rough riding beater and Ive gotten pretty used to the comfortable ride now. If its not a terrible difference, then Im all for it. Im getting ready to swap over to some 02-04 tacoma rims with some 31" Goodyear MT/R's and I think an extra inch would look really good with that setup (being my daily driver, I cant get too nuts with it) but if it rides like crap then I dont want to do it. I figured that I would have to allign my truck. It just seems too easy to be able to lift a vehicle like this. If you could, for the sake of this thread, do some before and after pics. Thanks!!

ok, I'm going to order in the next few days, so it will be a few weeks, but I will let you know how the install goes and how the ride feels...

I ordered my Daystar 2.5" spacers today, (from wheelersoffroad.com) so I will have them either Friday, Saturday or mid next week, due to Christmas...

I will have my buddy take pictures along the way, and will give you a report on the feel after theyre installed...I will prolly hafta get an alignment too :(

Cool guys! Thanks!! Im looking forward to hearing how that works out. Youre doing 2.5" spacers you said? So that equates to about 1.25" lift if Im correct? You staying with the stock 31's or going bigger?

no, I believe the spacers equal 1.25" but they LIFT you 2.5"...I don't know what size my tires are now they are 265/70 (is that 31 or 32?) which I bought recently, so once I NEED new ones, I'll get bigger ones...

Which spacers are top out spacers and which are preload spacers? If I'm not mistaken isn't it more desireable to have the top out spacer since it doesn't preload your spring.

does anybody know the downside of a a spacer lift opposed to a lift from SS or Toytec? or is there really a difference.

the topout spacer is most desirable, as you mentioned, BUT the most that can fit there was either 1" or 1.5" so above that, you have to have BOTH, such as my daystar kit, or a cornfed...

you can only get up to a 3" spacer lift, as opposed to a larger lift, but as far as disadvantages goes, the spacer lift does not give you a nice ride, it just keeps your ride how it is, maybe a TNY bit more stiff...

with real suspension lifts, you can get a nicer ride...I'm sure there are other things, people please chime in if ya know!

That's a very informative link! I had no idea my 02 sat lower than all the other years. Instead of using spacers for lift, I think I am going to save up for at least System 3.0.:biggrin2:

anybody know anything about the revtek spacer lifts?

and yea the SS 3 is what i would most likely do to mine.

but in other worlds spacer lift plus near coils = good to go?

the Revtek spacer lift is the same stuff as Daystar a polyurethane kit, just another brand...

In most worlds a spacer lift is good for appearance and for LIGHT offroading...any REAL offroading and u need a REAL lift :D

i'm thinking then that it will be a good lift for me to use since i'm going for the "on-road offroading" look :D

heres pics of my 3rd gen with my new daystar lift!

Man..that looks GREAT. Im thinking of doing it to my 2001 Sport. Do you have a Before photo you can post ? How much did the install cost ?Is that 2.5 front and Back or did you raise the front more than back. If anyone has a photo of a 1 in. lift on a 3rd Gen , I would like to see it
